This year has had it’s fair share of ups and downs given the current climate on what’s been happening all around the world. We’re all incredibly lucky that we’ve had many new tv series to binge on that helped us all ease our worries for bits of time. We wanted to conjure up a list of our top picks of the year that stood out amongst the crowd for us. Note, we have not seen every single show that released this year so if you see something that didn’t make our list, feel free to let us know! Without further adieu and in no specific order, here is our list below.

Midnight Mass
We had to include this Mike Flanagan project on our list. It has some of our favorite performances of the year, and is one of our top picks overall. The story blends religion, character studies with horror in such an engaging and story driven way, it’s hard not to instantly find yourself captured by it’s ambience. The series is also wrapped up by an incredibly talented ensemble cast. If you haven’t done so yet, please check this series out on Netflix.

Arcane
This series absolutely blew us away, from it’s colorful and action filled storytelling, to it’s downright epic world building. We knew it was based off of the popular game League of Legends, but the show doesn’t require you to know anything about the game that it’s based on. The story and lore were easy to follow, and the animation was so gorgeous, it’s no wonder this series took a long time to create. Absolutely brilliant all around.

Lucifer
This one must not come as a shock to all of you who follow us. It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of the series. The final in our opinion delivered and we’re happy to say that we were thrilled with it’s conclusion. Always purely character driven with a much needed down to Earth story that focuses on all of our beloved characters as we give them all one final farewell. Equal parts beautiful, and heartbreaking, and no doubt full of so much heart and soul, which will remain the staple of the series forever.

Wandavision
Disney has been working overtime with their original content this past year. Without a doubt, WandaVision is our personal pick out of the bunch. It’s the most memorable and intriguing. You get wonderful performances by the entire cast, an interesting story fully of mystery and the story unfolds itself in such a satisfying way. A very solid show all around, and not everything is all what it seems.

Invincible
Another surprise hit from Amazon Prime. I would compare this series to The Boys(also by Amazon Prime) but much more brutal. We get a lot of wonderful multi-layered characters in an interesting world. We know how tiring the comic book genre can be since there is an over abundance of it, but we can promise you this one is very much worth it. It’s different enough and interesting, and each episode as the story progresses gets better and better. Highly recommended!

Money Heist
Another series that came to it’s conclusion this year that stuck it’s landing. The show has had the fans holding on to this long and emotional journey and we’re so glad the ending was worth it! The final season was full of many twists and epic moments that never let up. The ending was the icing on the cake and was a great send off to the show.

Squid Game
If you’ve been living under a rock and somehow missed the huge craze for this show, then we’re here to tell you, it lives up the hype. This South Korean hit is a psychological drama series that shows us the brutalities desperate people are willing to go through for money. It’s unlike anything else that’s currently out at the moment and it’s originality and addicting story must be one of the many reasons why so many people tuned in. It’s brutal and shocking so it may not be for everyone.

Hawkeye
Who doesn’t love a comic book Christmas holiday themed series? Hawkeye is a grounded small scale story that introduces us to interesting new characters while also giving us more characterization on it’s titular hero. It’s vastly different than the other MCU shows thus far but that’s a good thing. If you like a story focused action based show with lots of heart, then you’ll enjoy Hawkeye!

Hellbound
Angelic beings arrive on earth to punish sinners, but they might not be exactly what they seem. We recommend it because it shows the hard truth behind many organized religions and how easily people can be persuaded to put their faith into something. The show absolutely delivers on it’s interesting premise and is an enjoyable watch.
We want to take a moment to wish all our readers a very happy new year and to thank all of you so much for all the support you’ve shown us. Here’s to 2022!
