God of War, a gaming masterpiece

I know what you must be thinking, “Damn Godo, but God of War came out in 2018.” Hush. I finally came around to it a few weeks ago since its been sitting in this huge backlog of games I’ve been meaning to play. Nonetheless, I’m glad it was God of War’s turn. I’m very familiar with the series, and I know the previous games before this one were more of hack/slashers but I feel like GoW just breathed so much life into the series and elevated it to one of the best video games of this generation. The gameplay, graphics, storytelling were very much on point for a triple A title and it honestly offers some of the best gaming for this generation of gaming.

I had heard all the hype when the game initially came out and was glad to see it received so well, as this is one of PlayStation’s greatest big exclusive titles for their system. I’m very much now looking forward to the next game in the series which was recently announced during Sony’s PS5 conference simply titled, God of War Ragnarok.

As for the game itself, without spoiling, it’s been quite a long time since a game has enamored me so much to the point where every scene and every battle had my eyes twinkling just soaking it all in. The game is gorgeous. The story itself simplistically, is about Kratos and his son Atreus(or as gamers call him BOY) fulfilling Atreus’s mothers last wish. The journey is so multilayered and so well done. It’s hard not to completely enwrap yourself in it all. Also, the story mixes with Norse mythology which is always good fun! Honestly, when I beat the game, I was grinning so hard after the revelations that were presented to us in the final act. I sat back in my sofa holding the controller to myself and smiled so hard. What a masterpiece. GoW gets a straight 10/10 for me. A rating fit for a god.
